He joined CNN in May 2003 and gained prominence as a meteorologist and occasional reporter and substitute anchor for CNN Worldwide in their Atlanta headquarters. With the show Entertainment tonight he has gained most of his popularity and covers different weather news with his shows. And after Mark Steins resigned from his post, Rob was announced the as co-anchor of the program in the same channel. He served this channel for three years and later on moved to WVIT Connecticut News 30. There he was hired as the head as well as morning meteorologist. He was also a s sociated with CNN but prior to that, he used to work for KATU-TV and 750 KXL News Radio which is located in Portland in Oregon.īecause of his hard work, he was hired by KPLC-TV which is in Lake Charles in Louisiana. He used to work for several network stations. Rob Marciano's Careerīeginning his career, he did have to face many struggles in the beginning days of his career. He holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. He moved to Cornell University and earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from the University. He attended the local school in his hometown. As a result, because of his interest and pa s sion, he decided to make it his career. He spent his entire childhood in Connecticut.įrom his childhood days, he was very eager to know about the climate and weather changes. Raised in Glenville in Connecticut by his parents he belongs to American Nationality and is of mixed Italian and German ethnicity. Robert Mark 'Rob' Marciano was born on June 25, 1968, in Glenville, Fairfield County, Connecticut, U.S. He is married to Eryn in 2010, and shares two children a son named Mason Marciano and a daughter named Madelyn Marciano. Travis enjoys being married, teaching his three children about life, joyfully serving at his local church, racquetball, reading, and tracking cold fronts.Started his career as a chief meteorologist for KATU-TV, he rose to prominence after joining CNN in 2003. Previously, he worked as the morning meteorologist just up the road in Bryan, Texas at KBTX-TV, where the Texas Associated Press twice recognized him as one of the top broadcast meteorologists in the state. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the National Weather Association, Phi Beta Kappa, and Phi Kappa Phi. He earned numerous awards and honors along the way, most notably the prestigious Brown-Rudder Outstanding Student Award, given to an individual that embodies the character, morals, and integrity of former Texas A&M University President Earl Rudder. Choosing a career that paid him to forecast and talk about the weather seemed to be a no-brainer, even if it meant enduring corny weatherman jokes for the rest of his life. While in Aggieland, he met his wonderful wife and felt drawn to become a broadcast meteorologist. Raised to be a Longhorn, Travis eventually received the blessing of his parents to pursue his love for weather at Texas A&M University. In the aftermath, he developed a deep passion and profound respect for the atmosphere by reading every weather book he could find, prompting his classmates to label him "the weatherman," which he preferred over "school boy." In fact, he received his calling to be a meteorologist when Hurricane Gilbert spawned a tornado that passed by his childhood home in San Antonio, Texas. Travis is no stranger to Texas weather because he's lived here all his life. When severe weather strikes, you can trust Travis to provide you with timely weather updates and potentially life-saving information. As a weather safety advocate, Travis frequently gives weather safety talks at local schools to help bring down storm anxiety and empower students to make wise choices during dangerous weather. He aims to present the public with weather forecasts that are informative, educational, and fun.
